This ambitious and exciting project was embarked upon by our friends Phil and Ronnie some years back when the Victoria Carpets factory site came up for sale. It took their bold, innovative confidence to turn this into what has now become a cultural ‘hub’ for our terrific town.

Theatre Royal, Castlemaine.
Ex Salvage Yard hack himself, Tim Heath and his dynamic partner’ Felicity Cripps, emailed us in 2016 when we were overseas announcing their ‘retirement’ from the yard, due to the fact that they had just ‘bought a theatre’. They are now, nearly a decade down the track, highly awarded as one of the country’s favorite music venues.

A place that pays homage to all things re-use… as well as providing the social and cultural hub for most of Castlemaine Fringe events… arts… makers and more. There’s also not a lot about building with old stuff that founder Mark Anstey, doesn’t know!
